Alternatively, visit the jungles of Chiang Mai and experience some of the more remote areas of the country. Visit elephants and monkeys, trek to hill tribes, or get the adrenalin going with zip lines and other adventure activities.

Although tipping is not considered mandatory in Thailand, small gratuities will definitely be appreciated. We’d suggest rounding up taxi journeys to the next 10 baht and tipping porters around 30 baht.

When dining out it is customary to leave any small change as a tip, whilst in smarter restaurants you could consider leaving 5-10%.

Thai cuisine is a unique blend of spicy, sour, salty, and sweet. Ranging from fresh salads that can often have a bit of a kick to noodle dishes such as Pad Thai, as well as red and green curries and satays, a visit to Thailand is the perfect destination for food connoisseurs. Important to note, tap water in Thailand is not suitable for drinking and should be avoided, including ice and washed salads.

Thailand has stable tropical temperatures year round with peak season between November and February when the climate is dryer and slightly cooler. The hottest period is April and May. May to October usually has higher rainfall interspersed with plenty of sunshine. This time benefits from the greatest value and less crowded beaches.

There are seasonal variations between beach resorts with slightly different monsoon seasons, while Northern Thailand is generally cooler than Bangkok in the winter and hotter in the summer.
